The Enlighten Depigmentation Peel is a cosmetic lightening peel treatment that helps with melasma (dark spots) and other forms of skin pigmentation that do not respond to more traditional treatments. This two-step process communicates with your cells to bring discolored pigmentation to the surface by increasing cell turnover. It then penetrates deeper into the skin to inhibit pigmentation. Enlighten treatments inhibit the melanin production process and helps stop the pigmentation that causes the unwanted discoloration, while the increased cellular turnover sheds off the old damaged and pigmented cells, resulting in naturally even skin tones
The Enlighten peel is a series of 2 peels over the course of a 28-day program that targets sun damage and melasma. It works to remove pigment, reduce the appearance of acne scarring/acne, smoothe the skin’s texture, and lighten your overall complexion.
Included in the treatment price is your post-peel home care kit, as well as a full-size retinol Rx 1%, and full-size hydroquinone Rx 4% for home care use to continue the process and help maximize your results.
Am I A Good Candidate?
If you have acne, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, melasma, scars or an uneven texture or complexion, then you are a candidate for this peel. Enlighten RX is safe for any skin type and color. The team at Timeless Rejuvenation Laser & Skincare will be able to advise you on the peel that is right for you and create a treatment plan designed specifically for your individual needs.
How Does It Work?
In general, peels work by helping the skin cells to turn over more quickly. They exfoliate to help shrink pores, lift the sun damage, and soften/tighten the skin. Lightening peels work to block pigmentation production so that no new pigmentation surfaces during the treatment cycle. With Enlighten RX, the first peel application is performed in-office. You will leave on the Enlighten peel mask for seven to ten hours (as instructed by your provider) before removing. We advise clients to schedule their Enlighten peel appointments as early in the day as possible, and on a day that you are able to stay home and relax - the Enlighten peel mask is orange, and again will be left on for the rest of that day.
For the 14 days following treatment during the skin’s recovery, the patient is responsible for continuing with their home-care regimen. After the first 14-day cycle, patients will then come in for their second peel application that helps to fine-tune pigmented areas, afterwards continuing the same home care regimen from their first application.
What Results Will I See?
As a result of the Enlighten RX peel, patients will see a smoother texture and more even complexion in general. There will be a reduction in the discolored spots, a reduction in the appearance of scars, a reduction in pore size, and an overall brighter look.
Expect noticeable results in one week and full results in a month. Please note that some clients may need a series of treatments.
Is There Any Downtime?
There is approximately 2 days of downtime with the Enlighten RX peel where patients will experience redness and swelling, following the initial 2 days patients will continue to lightly flake for 1-2 weeks. During this time, the dead skin will flake away allowing for the reveal of new skin to come to the surface. Because of the varying level of swelling and redness between individuals, some patients may elect to take the first two days off from work because they are uncomfortable with their initial appearance. To help alleviate possible side effects, our professionals recommend taking Benadryl and/or Pepcid as directed on packaging prior to treatment. Aside from this, there is no major downtime involved.
